Book Reviews

Code Name: Bananas

Author: David Walliams
Illustrator:Tony Ross

This book is about a gorilla that lived during WW2.

Eric is a boy who lives with his grandmother because he lost his parents in World War Two. His favorite and only friend is a gorilla who lives in the London zoo. The gorilla’s name is Gertude. When the air raid siren rings out, Gertrude goes on a rampage and Eric tries to stop her. But he fails and Gertude is asked to be “put down”.Eric rescues her and on the way to safety, they escape a German submarine and save president Churchill.
I think this is a good book because it teaches kids to be loyal and brave.

My favorite part is when Eric, Gertrude, Eric’s grand uncle Sid, President Churchill, King George IV and his wife and children have a giant food fight!

This book is suitable for kids 8-13.
I will give this book 5 ⭐️ because it has a good sense of humor!

Ickabog, by JK Rowling

This book is about a monster who seems bad, but turns out to be good.

Once there was a boy who wanted to kill the Ickabog, a mythical monster who had seemed to have killed his father. He and his mother learned that Spittleworth, the king's best friend is evil. But before they could investigate further, his mother was caught and the boy, who's name was Bert, was all alone. He came to an orphanage and was delighted to see his best friend there. When the orphanage went out of buisness, the children all found the Ickabog is harmless and did not kill Bert's father. They go back to the village to tell the news about the Ickabog.

I think children 8 to 13 will learn to be brave, truthful and kind in tough situations.

My favourite bit was when the Ickabog gave birth to it's Ickaboggles because it was a happy but sad bit because he died after that, which is usual.

I give this book a 1000 stars because it is very good and it is from my favourite author!
